I found Byron randomly while browsing on Instagram, I’m a huge superhero fan, and I was instantly “drawn” (ha ha) into his work. Masculine, sexy, powerful images of superheroes, villains, fantasy characters and all so beautifully created.
Interview with Byron Power
Immortal Images : Let’s start from the beginning, how did you get started creating digital art ?
Byron Power : I always loved the clean, crisp, cartoon-like effect that digital artists were able to achieve, so knowing that, my partner bought me a basic Wacom Bamboo tablet which I worked with for a good while, until I could afford to buy a full-on Wacom some years later, which is when I really got deep into it. After a couple of years I switched to an iPad Pro for greater portability, and now I use that, all day every day!
Immortal Images : Where does your inspiration come from ?
Byron Power : That is a very difficult question! I just sort of go into my head and see what’s there that wants to come out… if there’s nothing in my head I just sort of scribble a bit and try to turn it into something!
Immortal Images : From the first conception of a new idea, to the viewing the finished product, which stage of the creative process do you enjoy the most ?
Byron Power : My favourite part of the process is the sketching stage, where I can use my imagination to do the storytelling… after that’s done it’s just going through the motions to finish it to an acceptable finished standard.
Immortal Images : What do you find to be the most challenging part of your creative process ?
Byron Power : The absolute hardest thing is when I have to revisit a piece that I need to make changes to… once I’ve “finished” something, I often lose the drive for it and it’s hard to re-enter the mindset I was in when I started it.
Immortal Images : What do you want people to take away from viewing your work ?
Byron Power : I think I’d like people to think it was fun art to look at, primarily, and hopefully a little bit sexy too!
Immortal Images : What do you like doing in your spare time ?
Byron Power : I don’t have any spare time! There’s too much artwork to do! If art isn’t working I play games on my phone, but it’s really mostly art! And also coffee!
